Reader’s Digest Association (RDA) http://www.rda.com is committed to building the next generation of talent, and key to our strategy is our internship program. As a worldwide leader in multi-platform media and direct-to-consumer marketing, we have 200+ professionals in our Milwaukee office that can offer robust and engaging learning opportunities to top students in the Midwest.

We are seeking high-potential students interested in career-building opportunities in a fast paced and competitive environment. In turn, we provide interns relevant real-life business experience through short-term projects that support key business initiatives and contribute to our products. You will also gain exposure to RDA's global organization through meetings where you will interact with business professionals, internal industry experts and senior executives throughout the summer.

The RDA summer internship program is open to undergraduate students entering their junior or senior year. All internships are credit-based (unpaid). To be considered for this program, students will be asked to provide proper documentation from their school program.

Position Description
Direct Marketing - Learn about the $150 billion industry of direct marketing at http://www.the-dma.org/index.php. You will be a member of one of the most respected, large volume, Direct-to-Consumer marketing teams in the country. Experiences will include supporting many analytical marketing processes and programs including tracking of program costs, invoices and ensuring that costs are updated in our marketing systems. You will also assist in gathering current and past results and ensure accurate reporting of program performance. It will involve heavy updating in spreadsheets so Excel experience is critical. In addition, you will provide first level analytical/administrative support for a variety of marketing projects as needed. Students interested in applying should show a strong aptitude with numbers and analyses.

Market Research - You’ll be responsible for assisting Market research in the coordination, collection, analysis and reporting of survey data and / or market research projects. You will have the opportunity to learn how market research assists in driving business decisions for a publishing company; the use of methods, best practices and standards; and the depth, breadth, and variety of market research from qualitative to quantitative and from very targeted to broad-based approaches. Students interested in applying should have strong marketing and mathematics skills.

Experiential Marketing - Work with the experiential marketing group responsible for The Taste of Home Cooking School (TOHCS) and learn how to plan an event-marketing initiative from concept through execution, We hold over 300 large-scale consumer events across the country to build the Taste of Home brand while marketing our sponsors' major consumer brands. You will work with the operations, sales and marketing team to support projects including maintaining the TOHCS blog, creating marketing materials for event attendees, conduct industry research and competitive analysis.

Length of Internship: Summer 2012 Term
Requirements: Direct Marketing -
•Currently enrolled in marketing program entering junior or senior year
•Finance or advertising minor a plus
•Strong working knowledge of Excel
•Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
•Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities
•Ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize

Market Research -
•Currently enrolled in marketing, market research, economics, or mathematics/statistics program entering junior or senior year
•Strong computer skills
•Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
•Strong attention to detail with an ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize

Experiential Marketing -
•Currently enrolled in marketing, communications or public relations program entering junior or senior year
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
•Adobe Ind-Design and Photoshop preferred
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Ability to multitask and prioritize
•Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a creative, innovative and positive attitude

Preferred majors are Marketing, Communications, Public Relations.
