EDITORIAL This includes copy edits, line edits in addition to production aspects of the bookmaking process (such as formatting and galley creation). May include other tasks adjacent to editin such as admin tasks. MARKETING The internship requires a diverse set of skills and responsibilities, including writing creative and compelling book descriptions to attract readers and support marketing efforts. Interns will identify essential metadata for book titles, such as relevant keywords, categories, and comparative titles, to optimize discoverability. Market research is also a key component, involving the development of media lists, exploration of partnership opportunities, and the identification of suitable awards and events. SOCIAL MEDIA The role includes the management of social media accounts and newsletters to engage audiences and promote content. Interns will also generate content for blogs, author websites, and press releases, ensuring a consistent and professional public presence. Will work directly with authors to help them create sharp social media campaigns as well. PR Unsolicited Press is seeking a creative, self-motivated Public Relations Intern to join our small, dynamic team. This internship offers hands-on experience in literary publicity, with opportunities to participate in every stage of the promotion process. The intern will work directly with the publishers to develop and execute media campaigns, write press materials, build media lists, pitch to outlets, and assist in the creation of marketing assets such as postcards, posters, eblasts, and social media content. Additional responsibilities include managing social media campaigns and influencer outreach, coordinating author events, attending local literary appearances (when possible), contributing to our author newsletter, and promoting both frontlist and backlist titles. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to learn about independent publishing and media strategy. SALES Unsolicited Press is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Book Sales Representative Intern to support our growing catalog of literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. This internship offers hands-on experience in independent publishing sales, including learning how to pitch titles to bookstores, libraries, and specialty retailers. The intern will assist in researching and building outreach lists, managing follow-ups with accounts, preparing sales materials such as catalogs and order forms, and developing strategies to boost sales of both frontlist and backlist titles. Additional duties may include coordinating with authors for event planning, assisting with metadata optimization, and tracking sales performance. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about books, confident communicators, and eager to gain real-world experience in literary sales and distribution. GRAPHIC Unsolicited Press is looking for a talented, graduate-level Graphic Design Intern with a passion for books and visual storytelling to assist in designing original book covers and promotional materials. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our editorial and marketing teams to conceptualize and execute compelling, genre-appropriate designs for literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry titles. The designer will gain hands-on experience in cover design, interior layout (if interested), and branding across digital and print platforms. Projects may include creating social media graphics, web assets, catalogs, and other marketing collateral. The ideal candidate has strong typographic skills, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, and an understanding of visual trends in publishing.
