Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W.W. Norton & Company is seeking an intern from January to April 2020 to assist with print and digital editorial projects in the history department. The internship will offer insight into the editorial, marketing, and sales aspects of textbook publishing. Tasks will vary, but will include:
• assisting with preparation of manuscripts and electronic ancillary materials
• updating art logs and art manuscripts for new editions of our award-winning and bestselling history textbooks
• conducting light map and photo research
• preparing primary source documents to be submitted for permissions requests
• assisting with facilitating editorial reviews
• cataloging and organizing digital assets, including Coursepack material, test questions, and lecture PowerPoint slides
• formatting documents, including test banks and online quizzes
• reviewing student websites to check functionality of videos and captions, and assessing any functional or editorial errors
• other day-to-day office duties including making copies, scans, and printouts of proofs; assisting with corrections markup and assembly, etc.
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and organized, able to work independently in an office environment, and interested in learning about college textbook publishing. Those with an interest in history are especially encouraged to apply. If you are applying to another Norton internship, please indicate as much in your cover letter. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.

Payment: $15/hour
