Internship Detail

[Back to Internships]

Description: The JABberwocky Literary Agency is looking for a paid intern to help with and then take point on our website migration project. If you look at our current site ( you can see why we’re eager for a change!

The primary role for the intern will be moving information from our current site to a new one that we’ve already had a web developer design and build. A large part of this project will be learning what info is crucial for our agency to preserve and then deciding how best to present it. The intern will be working directly with the C.O.O. on this task and the job will require coordinating directly with JABberwocky’s individual agents, as well as its foreign rights and ebook publishing departments, to tailor the website’s design to continue to serve their needs. Consequently, the intern will learn a great deal about the publishing industry from the literary agency side of the business.

While the goal of this internship is to focus on upgrading JABberwocky’s website, there will likely be other day-to-day agency tasks that intern is asked to assist with. This internship may also include the opportunity to do some editorial work (reading manuscripts/proposal, writing reader’s reports, etc.) but it is not guaranteed.

A bit about JABberwocky: We are a mid-sized agency with 9 full-time staff and most of our authors write commercial genre fiction, with science fiction and fantasy novels being our bread and butter. Brandon Sanderson, Charlaine Harris, Peter V. Brett, and Daniel José Older are some of our well known clients. We have a relaxed office atmosphere with an open floor plan so, if you are our intern, you’ll be right in the thick of things and will get to experience everything that happens at a literary agency.
Length of Internship: JABberwocky is flexible when it comes to the length of this internship and can accommodate the schedules of college students or folks with concurrent occupations. Our goal for this internship is to complete the website migration project, which we expect to take a couple of months, and to be done by this Autumn.
Requirements: -- Available to work in our office for several hours at a time Monday to Friday, between 10AM - 6PM
-- Available to work 15-25 hours per week
-- Prior experience with WordPress-based websites
