|Description:||The average internships don’t usually prepare people for the real world. Quill Shift doesn’t offer an average internship. In the real world, employees will have to be self-motivated, creative, adaptable, good researchers, eloquent and quick writers, professional, tech-savvy, and able to play well with others. That sounds like a lot of requirements, but it’s what is demanded of the new crop of workers.
The Quill Shift Literary Agency internship will provide all of these skills to arm prospective job-seekers with not only the right tools to land a job in the publishing field, but in any corporate environment.
The internship is a minimum of 12 weeks requiring a commitment of 12 hours/week. The position calls for an organized, detail-oriented professional to devote their time to a plethora of tasks including (but not limited to):
• Providing weekly reports on what books made the bestsellers lists
• Completing readers reports (1 page) on assigned young adult and middle grade books of interest for comparative titles and/or submitted manuscripts
• Processing unsolicited submissions
• Performing developmental and line edits on middle grade and YA novels
|Length of Internship:||minimum 12 weeks|
|Requirements:||• Once a week in-person or Skype mandatory meetings to debrief on the previous week’s work and coordinate a plan of attack for the next week
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Independent worker
• Genuine interest in children's literature
