Description: MEDIA CONNECT, a division of Finn Partners (a Ruder Finn Company), is a leader in the media placement field, specializing in books. We offer credit-only internships during the fall, spring and summer. Currently, we’re seeking potential interns for Fall 2012 (August 27, 2012 to December 7, 2012). Applicants must be available to work three days/week from 9:30am to 5:30pm with an hour lunch break.

Publicity and Digital Publicity interns are offered the chance to work at an assistant level. You’re encouraged to take on as many responsibilities as you see fit. You’ll have the opportunity to work with media in the following areas: radio, print, TV and online. This will include coordinating interviews, book reviews, features, etc.

Responsibilities include:
*Working one-on-one with the media
*Researching and compiling organized media lists
*Pitching material via phone and/or e-mail
*Coordinating media interviews
*Writing press material
*Assembling client updates
*Working with publicists of all levels, including the managing director of the company, although each intern will also be assigned a mentor
*Working on a mix of topics including: fiction, nonfiction, business, health and fitness, family and parenting, celebrity, politics, etc.

MEDIA CONNECT will provide you with thorough training and an understanding of how to handle media relations through an all-day orientation on your first day, in addition to workshops and hands-on experience throughout your internship.
Length of Internship: 4 months
Requirements: MEDIA CONNECT is looking for applicants with strong written and verbal communication skills. Digital Publicity interns should also have an understanding of social media platforms, such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Students who are majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or English are preferred. All applicants must be able to receive school credit. This internship is unpaid, although a monthly stipend will be provided for transportation.
