Internship Detail

Description: We are looking for an intern who is available for about 10 to 15 hours a week, days and hours are flexible. Duties include reading and evaluating queries, manuscripts, and proposals, writing readers' reports (usually a paragraph), and helping with mailings and other miscellaneous office tasks (scanning, copying, etc.).
Length of Internship: Fall: September - December
Spring: January - May
Summer: June - August
(Start and end dates are negotiable)
Requirements: Qualifications:
Humanities Major (preferred)
Passion for Publishing & Books in Genres that NYLA Publishes (Please research our list before applying!)
GPA Minimum: 2.8
Friendly & Outgoing Personality
Team Player
Enthusiasm for the Written Word
Location: 350 Seventh Avenue Suite 2003 New York, NY 10001
Application Due Date: Please send us your resume and cover letter the semester before you would like to intern with NYLA. For example if you would like to intern in the Spring, send us your resume and cover letter before the end of December as we usually begin contacting candidates for interviews a month before the new semester begins.
Payment: Small travel stipend will be provided for interns, along with recommendations upon request.

Please send a professional cover letter. It should include your reasons for wanting to work in publishing, it should describe your taste in books, your work ethic/personality, any past experience, and other information you feel is relevant to the position. (It should not exceed 1 page.)

Your resume should include any relevant course work along with current GPA.
