Description: Serendipity Literary Agency publicity/marketing intern will work closely with senior staff to promote the company’s award-winning authors and books. Assist in building the profile of agency and individual agents in media outlets beyond book beat using digital, print and broadcast. This internship is structured to build interns’ portfolio of writing samples, and book of secured press placements in variety of national media outlets. Internships are unpaid. College / University credit available.
-Track media placements for literary agency authors across multiple genres (Fiction and Non-Fiction)
-Draft press releases for new client signings to the agency and media alerts for author signings
-Coordinate interviews for authors and agents
-Assist agent and author with book publicity by developing targeted media lists for new book releases
-Draft pitches and pitch agents to industry awards, ‘Best of List’, Power, Women, Career issues.
-Oversee social media initiatives, when applicable live tweet from author events or agent conference panel participation
-Update agency website: client list, conference schedule and special announcements
-Pitch agents for radio and TV interviews in conference cities as applicable
-Draft and post Publishers Marketplace and Publishers Weekly book deal announcements
-Staff events: list management, media check-in, venue review, etc.
Length of Internship: minimum 4 month
-Currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate preferred (Public Relations, Communications or Journalism majors a plus)
-Must be available to work min. 2-5 days per week
-Excellent writing and communication skills
-Well-organized and able to multi-task
-Detail oriented
-Problem solver with passion for creative brainstorming
-Ability to work both individually and in a group setting
-Interest in books and authors
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Adobe Photoshop knowledge a plus
-Knowledge of social media platforms a must (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
-Previous PR experience/internships a plus
