Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W.W. Norton & Company is seeking an intern from the beginning of September to the end of November 2019 to assist with print and digital editorial projects in the College Psychology department. W.W. Norton’s College Psychology team is committed to developing high-quality and innovative learning materials for college psychology classrooms across the country and abroad. Interns play an active, hands-on role in various aspects of the editorial process for textbook publishing, in addition to gaining exposure to marketing, sales, design, and other integral components of academic book development.

Tasks may include:
• researching psychology experts and compiling a database of prospective editorial reviewers 
• evaluating video animations, interactive activities, and visual and written textbook material to help editors and authors improve the quality of content 
• preparing manuscripts and early-stage electronic learning materials for eventual production
• formatting documents, such as editorial reviews, to ensure that they are ready to send to editors and authors
• completing occasional administrative duties, such as assisting with check processing     
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Candidates must be organized, hardworking, able to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced office environment, and enthusiastic about learning the ins and outs of college textbook publishing. Those who demonstrate interest in psychology, education, digital learning, college curriculum development, or book publishing will receive special attention. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential. If you are applying to another Norton internship, please indicate as such in your cover letter. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.
