Description: The Charlotte Sheedy Literary Agency is offering a paid internship to applicants with a demonstrated interest in working in book publishing. Our agency works with many kinds of books, including fiction, memoir, history, general nonfiction, and poetry, and we also work with young adult, middle grade, and picture books.

Responsibilities include: reading manuscripts and proposals; writing reader’s reports, editorial letters, and pitch letters; handling social media including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram; processing payments; maintaining calendars; taking calls; handling mailings; scanning, filing, and copying; running errands; and performing other administrative tasks as necessary.
Length of Internship: Internship lengths are flexible. Required hours for spring are Mondays and Fridays from 9:30am to 5:30pm. Required hours for summer are flexible between 9:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Thursday.
Requirements: We’re looking for interns who are efficient, creative, and enthusiastic about working in book publishing. Applicants should have the ability to multi-task, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Previous experience in book publishing is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary.

Interns can be currently enrolled college students (undergraduate or graduate) or recent college grads. Remote applications cannot be accepted. CSLA is an equal opportunity employer.
