Company Name: FOLIO LITERARY MANAGEMENT, LLC
Description: Seeking a thoughtful and skilled part-time researcher with a passion for web culture to assist in the writing of a book about YouTube and creative developments in the web video space. You’ll work directly with the author, a leading expert in the web culture field, to assemble the basic research that will support the final work. This is a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience in both the editorial process of creating a book and the business and culture of the cutting edge of creativity and communication. Tasks will include: direct research on social media creators and communities, helping code/analyze data about web video usage, fact checking, and traditional academic research.
Length of Internship: This is a roughly 6-month commitment of approximately 10 hours per week with flexibility on dates and times. Must be available for in-person meetups in New York City as well as video conferences.
Requirements: Responsibilities
• Investigative social media research
• Fact checking
• Sourcing relevant academic or journalistic research related to the themes of the project
• Organizing and parsing raw data outputs
• Gathering contact info and potentially corresponding with interview candidates and/or original sources
• Watching a whole bunch of videos!

Preferred Qualifications
• Post-graduate academic research experience in media studies-related field
• Authorship of serious (scholarly or journalistic) analysis of online media
• Experience with data analysis via spreadsheets
• Basic understanding of statistics
• Journalism or fact checking experience
• A passion for YouTube culture and the digital media ecosystem
• Strong written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
