Description: DESCRIPTION

Dynamic "Digital First” NYC Publishing House, Astor + Blue Editions, is seeking interns for Fall 2014 to support its satellite marketing office in Rockville, MD. Our publishing house deals in trade fiction and non-fiction of every genre, and has an impressive roster of authors including noted award winners and internationally renowned experts.

Work environment is team-based and collaborative, with a commitment to professional excellence in all phases of editorial and marketing. Successful candidates must have strong communication skills (email, general writing); pleasant phone skills, and strong attention to detail that our readers, bloggers and online clients expect. Our unique training program is under the direct mentorship of the Marketing Director. Virtual and home-based work possibilities case-by-case. Travel and expense allowance included.


Unlike a majority of internship programs, accepted candidates will be trained in actual real world" editorial / marketing duties within a true, "on-the-job training" environment. Candidates must have strong writing skills to create press materials, news copy and assist in execution of actual marketing plans; candidate will also need strong communication skills to engage media editors (TV, Print, Radio) and participate in digital marketing activities (e.g. ongoing interaction with blogs, websites, social media editors etc.). Candidates should also stay up to date with the latest in book marketing trends.
Length of Internship: 3 - 4 Months
Requirements: REQUIREMENTS

Specific requirements include: English degree or related field (Journalism, Communications, Marketing) OR professional experience in an industry with a demonstrable appreciation for books, reading and literature. General computer expertise in Mac, PC, and MS Office software; working knowledge of major social media platforms. Experience in CISION a plus.
