Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college department at W. W. Norton & Company is seeking a fall intern to work in the Custom Publications division from approximately September to December 2019. Interns will help Custom Publications work with professors to create customized, made-to-order textbooks and course readers spanning a wide variety of disciplines, including English, history, political science, and more. This internship is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are interested in learning more about the sales, marketing, and editorial aspects of publishing while working in a new and exciting branch of the textbook field.

Tasks may vary, but duties will include:
• assisting with marketing research
• monitoring sales and inventory of custom texts
• maintaining metadata for new titles
• serving as a liaison with customers to ensure a smooth and efficient ordering process
• helping with database management and library research
• performing light proofreading and manuscript preparation
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Ideal candidates should possess strong writing skills, be organized and detail-oriented, be able to work independently in an office environment, and be interested in learning about college textbook publishing. Prior experience in publishing is not required, but familiarity with Excel and a comfort with Internet research are preferred.

Specific work hours are flexible, but interns usually work three or four days per week for a total of 20 hours over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.
Location: New York, NY
Payment: $15/hour
