Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W. W. Norton & Company is seeking an intern from May to August 2019 to assist with print and digital editorial projects in the economics, environmental science, and biological anthropology departments. The internship will offer insight into the editorial, marketing, and sales aspects of textbook publishing. Tasks will vary, but may include:
• assist with preparation of manuscripts and electronic ancillary materials (PowerPoints, instructor guides, etc.) for eventual production
• compile and create the Selected Sources list for our new environmental science and sustainability text
• assist in reviewing the artwork for this new text with expert reviewers
• testing and reviewing digital content and functionality on platforms such as InQuizitive and SmartWork5
• compile a database of new professors in macroeconomics
• cataloging and organizing digital assets, including SmartWork5 metadata
• formatting and preparing documents in support of other ancillary projects
• completing occasional administrative duties, such as assisting with check processing
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Candidates must be organized, hardworking, able to work independently in an office environment, and enthusiastic about learning the ins and outs of college textbook publishing. Those who demonstrate interest in education, digital learning, college curriculum development, or book publishing will receive special attention. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential. If you are applying to another Norton internship, please indicate as much in your cover letter. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.

Payment: $15/hour
