| Description: | Duties and Responsibilities:
?Acquire, commission, and develop new publications for Brill's Modern and Contemporary China Studies program, including books, journals, reference works, and online resources. ?Manage the annual budget for the publishing program and ensure that publications are published on schedule. ?Maintain Brill's relationships with book and journal editorial boards, partner presses in China, and authors through frequent domestic and international trips. ?Track developments in humanities and social sciences fields related to 20th and 21st century China in order to further develop Brill's publication program. ?Expand Brill's network of scholars, authors, reviewers, editors, translators, and publishing contacts in relevant fields. ?Attend major conferences, academic events, and trade shows relevant to the modern China studies list. ?Assume additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: ?College degree in a field related to China Studies is required (minimum BA level, MA level preferred). ?Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and native-level fluency in English are required. ?Previous publishing experience, especially with exposure to online multimedia products, is highly desirable. ?Availability for frequent long-term business travel to Asia and Europe is necessary. ?Entrepreneurial drive, creative personality, strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, and impeccable organizational abilities are essential.
