What you will do:

ITHAKA is seeking a Manager, Institutional Sales Coordinators to manage a global team of Institutional Sales Coordinators (ISCs) who provide sales support to geographically distributed sales directors around the world. The Manager, ISC will manage an inside sales team that supports the efforts of the JSTOR platform (www.jstor.org), including the JSTOR Archive Collections, the Current Scholarship Program (CSP), the new Books at JSTOR initiative, as well as the Portico preservation services (www.portico.org). The Manager will work directly with the Institutional Sales Coordinators to ensure they provide excellent support to the sales directors. In order to be successful in this role you will have managed a large group of support folks, know how to remove internal roadblocks and know that your relationships and collaboration with internal units will be the key to their success. You will also need to work side by side with the ISC’s in the NYC office. The Manager will report to the Associate Vice President, Institutional Sales and Strategic Partnerships, who is also based out of NYC.

The primary responsibilities of the Manager, Institutional Sales Coordinators are:

• Managing the team of ISCs – both in U.S./Canada and international – whose goal is to meet the revenue and participation goals of the organization;
• Ensuring the sales support needs of the Directors in the various regions are being met by working collaboratively with the ICS’s and internal units;
• Formalizing and implementing ‘best practices’ in the various support activities across the team;
• Liaising with Finance, Legal, Licensing & Fulfillment, and User Services units to ensure their activities are properly aligned with the needs of the sales organization;
• Managing Talisma (customer relationship management database) and other internal business systems to ensure high-quality customer data is available in support of the sales organization;
• Liaising with Analytics units to ensure that usage data and reports are built and made available in support of the sales efforts in the various regions
• Facilitating training (on an individual and group basis) for the ISCs to expand their scope of knowledge and extend their growth potential in the job.

Some overnight travel (approximately 5-10%) will be required, including attending designated conferences, meetings, events per the discretion of the Associate Vice President.

Your qualifications:

• A minimum of five years experience managing a group of support staff, a sales support staff is a major plus;
• Excellent relationship building skills;
• Considerable experience with managing sales team needs with CRM system; experience with Talisma (Campus Management) a plus;
• Strong email, verbal, and written communication skills;
• Strong presentation skills, both in-person and via Web;
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
• Ability to work well as a team member; a willingness to actively participate in team projects and share ideas;
• Fluency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
• Strong organizational and time management skills;
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision and to prioritize diverse work assignments;
• Ability to perform well under pressure;
• Strong commitment and interest in ITHAKA’s mission and outreach efforts.
• Bachelor’s Degree;
