Title: | Entry-Level Assistant Position at JVNLA, Inc. |
Description: | JVNLA, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual for a full-time salaried entry-level assisting position with a focus on royalties. JVNLA represents a wide range of adult fiction, nonfiction, and children’s book authors and illustrators. We’re a collaborative team and this role offers the opportunity to work with multiple agents and departments and learn the business side of publishing.
Key Responsibilities: -Provide administrative support to the agency with day-to-day tasks including, but not limited to, managing emails and phone calls, sorting and handling domestic and foreign mailings, document management and filing, and maintaining organized file systems. -Assist the Royalties Coordinator in preparing, reviewing, and distributing royalty statements to clients; track, download, and organize royalty statements across multiple publishers and portals; regularly perform audits on royalty reports; draft and track invoices. -Manage Database updates including editor and client information, submissions, and royalty information into our data system in Bradbury Phillips; enter new deals and titles; ensure client payments and delivery dates are correct. -Oversee client onboarding process, including handling W-9s, ACH authorizations, reviewing and sending Author-Agent Agreements. -Coordinate with agents and legal teams to route domestic contracts and collaboration agreements for signature. -Assist in creating and generating information sheets on titles and illustrators. -Review and evaluate manuscripts and proposals, as needed. Salary & Benefits: $35,000-$45,000 Transportation: Covered by the Agency Health Insurance: 2-tier choices and employer contribution. Employee contribution deducted pre-tax. Additional Benefits: Opportunity to participate in pre-tax Flex Spending for medical and dependent care expenses. Sep-IRA Profit sharing offered after 3 years. Vacation/PTO: 10 paid vacation days, 8 sick days, and 2 personal days per year. Additional paid time off includes the week between Christmas and New Year’s when JVNLA is closed. Requirements: | -Ability to work in the NYC office (Upper East Side) at least 3 days a week.
-Comfort and ease with numbers. -A passion for books and the publishing industry. -Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. -Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player. -Willingness to learn new skills, troubleshoot tech issues and understand the inner workings of a boutique literary agency. |
