Title: Book Publicist, Diversion Books
Description: Diversion Books is looking for an experienced Publicist to become an integral part of our team, working on both non-fiction and fiction front and backlist. In this vibrant and multifaceted role, you will play a crucial part in crafting compelling narratives that resonate with readers around the globe. Your ability will help bridge the connection between our titles and their audience, using innovative strategies to enhance visibility and engagement. Diversion Books is one of the fastest-growing independent publishers in the industry (Publishers Weekly, 2024). Since our establishment in 2010, we have been dedicated to publishing books that engage, enlighten, and entertain. We utilize a variety of distribution channels, including traditional and digital platforms, print, audio, film, television, and international exports.


Requirements: In this role, you will assist in all aspects of publicity campaigns, including but not limited to:
•Serve as publicity lead on assigned titles.
•Communicate efforts, accomplishments, and execution of publicity programs to authors.
•Create press materials and pitch books to outlets that cover books as well as outlets specializing in particular subjects tailored to each book.
•Research and seek out new media outlets for the promotion of our titles.
•Send regular publicity updates to internal and external stakeholders.
•Manage outside publicity partners.
•Plan and manage bookstore events and author appearances.
•Build personal relationships with major national media and industry-focused media.
•Submit books to trade media for coverage and manage Edelweiss DRCs.
•Execute successful in-person events, including independently overseeing travel arrangements and pitching local media.
•Coach authors on the best way to work with media and create briefing materials before interviews.
•Provide comprehensive general administrative support for the department.
•Perform general department responsibilities and represent the imprint at various meetings, functions, and industry events.
•Coordinate logistics related to sales conferences, festivals, and trade shows.
•Post publicity hits and event promotions on company social media (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn).
•Work closely with the marketing and publicity team as well as authors, agents, booksellers, and key in-house departments including editorial, operations, and subsidiary rights.



The successful candidate must have the following skills:
•Must have 3-5 years experience, preferably in publishing
•Proven experience in book publicity or a related field.
•Strong passion for storytelling and literature.
•Excellent communication and organizational skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
•Must be able to maintain a high level of responsibility, take assignments



Location: Hybrid (NYC office) / Open to Remote
Salary: $62,000.00 - $65,000.00
