Title: Media Editor, Psychology
Description: W.W. Norton & Company is seeking a Media Editor for Psychology to join its Science Editorial group. The Science Editorial group takes pride in creating high-quality and pedagogically-effective digital resources for college students and instructors. We believe that our collaborative work environment is key to maintaining that high standard. Media Editors work closely with discipline editors, marketers, and specialists on their teams as well as Norton UX designers, engineers, project managers, business analysts, media project editors, and production managers to create exceptional products. Working in the Science Editorial group also offers regular opportunities to learn, grow professionally, and foster innovation by sharing ideas with colleagues working in other disciplines. This position reports to the Editor in Chief for Science.

Job Advantages and Highlights:

Understanding the undergraduate course markets in psychology college publishing and the diverse needs of instructors and students.
Planning, developing, and implementing strategic and innovative content to be used in digital products for teaching, learning, and assessment.
Creating budgets and development timelines to correspond with editorial, sales, and production schedules and the needs of the market.
Collaborating closely with editorial, digital design, production, and product development colleagues to ensure quality and timeliness of materials.
Finding, signing, and communicating with authors and subject matter experts for a wide variety of editorial projects.
With the help of an editorial assistant and associate editor, closely monitoring projects at all stages of editorial development and production.
Clearly and compellingly presenting digital products to the Norton sales team and to faculty on campus, at focus groups, and at academic conferences.
Communicating the specifications for, and functionality of, digital media to fellow editors, designers, production managers, programmers, and software developers.

Experience and Skills:

The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, self-motivated, creative, resourceful, collaborative, detail-oriented, and organized.
At least five years prior experience in college publishing or comparable experience creating digital products in other industries is strongly preferred.
This position requires strong editorial aptitude and keen interest in the teaching and learning needs of college instructors and students. Communication internally and externally happens frequently in this role, so candidates should be effective oral and written communicators.
Candidates should demonstrate a "can-do" attitude and be proactive and flexible in a rapidly changing environment. This position is in Psychology but offers opportunities to work on projects outside that discipline as department needs shift.
Candidates should be interested in the challenges and opportunities of digital media as it applies to teaching and learning and be eager to uphold Norton’s high standards of content quality in all projects.
Requirements: Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in book marketing or sales, with a strong understanding of the book publishing landscape.
Strong grasp of key marketing concepts and tools including email marketing, social media marketing, video, and search.
Proclivity to both think outside of the box and ability to put those ideas into practice is essential.
Ability to collaborate as part of a larger team while working independently.
Exceptional verbal and written communication and copywriting skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
Basic design skills are a plus.
Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the U.S.
Must be able to work full business hours from Norton's New York City headquarters.
Compensation and Benefits*

Currently available benefits include:

Annual compensation for this position is between $65,000-70,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Norton may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and like considerations.
