Title: Sales Director, Mass Merchants
Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Director of Mass Merch to join the Hachette Book Group Sales team and work alongside the Vice President of Mass Merchants, on all adult titles. The Director will help shape the goals for the teams and assist in spearheading the overall business at these important accounts and will do this through collaboration with key stakeholders and via strong account relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead multiple teams of reps to ensure they are equipped to efficiently increase sales across all frontlist and backlist titles at the accounts
Work with sales colleagues and management at the various accounts to grow market share against competing brands, drive key backlist via strategic repromotions and develop innovative ideas and initiatives to drive sales and maximize in-store visibility for our books
Regularly analyze sales data at the accounts against industry sales trends, reviewing seasonal sales patterns, and sales on competing titles and series and use this knowledge in sales efforts and to inform publishers
Forecast sales data and inventory, ensuring customer demand is satisfied
Work collaboratively with in house publishers and sales colleagues, establishing excellent relationships within the organization to drive key processes with your accounts
Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
7 years of extensive selling and analysis experience preferably to Mass Merch accounts
Prior managerial experience is essential
Strong verbal and written communication skills is essential as is public speaking, with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience
Must be results driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed
A proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through
Drives change and innovation by improving work product or process, and challenges established norms where appropriate
Proven ability to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization; takes the lead in inspiring others to work together for mutual benefit
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail
Solutions-focused when met with challenges and can comfortably adapt to changes
The role is NYC based, and the candidate will need to be in the office two days a week as part of the hybrid working policy at HBG.

The compensation range for this position is $110,000 - $135,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
