Title: Publicity & Marketing Assistant, Workman
Description: Workman Publishing (WP) a division of Hachette Book Group, is a leading publisher of award-winning lifestyle and nonfiction books, children’s books, gift books, fiction, stationery, puzzles, and the bestselling calendar line in the business. Workman Publishing is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and detail-oriented Publicity & Marketing Assistant to join the Publicity & Marketing team supporting the Workman, Workman Kids, Artisan, Workman Calendars and Algonquin Young Readers imprints.The ideal candidate is curious to learn about publicity, marketing, social media, and event planning as he/she/they will be an active participant in all aspects of bringing our books to the attention of consumers. The candidate must be organized, an excellent writer and communicator, and have the ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency.

This position reports jointly to the Director of Publicity & Marketing (Artisan Books), and Associate Director of Publicity (Workman Publishing), and resides within the WP Marketing and Publicity department. The majority of the workload will relate to traditional publicity campaigns and include support on marketing initiatives related to social media and brand promotion for Artisan Books. Please note: this role will be based in our New York Office on a hybrid model.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist senior staff on lead campaigns through building media lists, media pitching, creating tour schedules, scheduling travel, arranging author escorts, writing press releases and pitch letters, preparing promotional materials for events, gathering images for media placements, and coordinating mailings (both digital and physical)
Independently own and manage publicity campaigns for select books, calendars, puzzles, and stationery lines
Draft press releases, pitch letters, promotional materials and media lists
Organize and coordinate author schedules and escort authors to NYC-area events and media where appropriate
Assist with orchestrating social media influencer outreach and campaigns
Organize social media schedules and contribute to research and content ideation for @artisan_books
Administrative tasks include: creation of seasonal schedules, maintenance of the department digital filing system, managing monthly AmEx statements through Concur Solutions, helping to manage the department internship program, note-taking at meetings
Requirements: KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

College degree, or equivalent work experience
Prior publicity or public relations experience through coursework, part-time work, or internships is preferred
Demonstrated interest in reading and promoting nonfiction and lifestyle books
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent time management skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
A strong focus on details and deadlines
Excitement for participating in and contributing to a fun, vibrant work environment with a great company culture
Voracious appetite for consuming media, staying on top of trends, following IG & Tik Tok

The compensation for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
