Title: Summer 2024 Marketing Strategy & Metadata Intern
Description: Hachette Book Group’s summer internship program offers individuals an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest. To learn more about the company, visit our career site: https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/about/careers/

Program dates: June 3rd – August 9th (10 weeks)

Location: ON-SITE: position will be based in our NY office on a two-day per week hybrid schedule. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Pay rate: $16/hour
This marketing strategy internship offers the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on experience focused on media and metadata. You will support day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings while learning about marketing processes and strategy. 

To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Identify and evaluate opportunities for optimizing product listings through metadata 
Execute keyword research and create/implement copy as needed 
Evaluate competitor data and identify new keyword opportunities for HBG brands and authors 
Perform keyword research for metadata updates/product descriptions and collaborate with publishing teams optimizing product language to maximize discoverability 
Design merchandising assets and creatives
Track progress and effectiveness of product page optimization
Requirements: THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: 
Curious about how books find readers, and the data strategy that can be used to make good metadata decisions 
Familiar with SEO best practices
Demonstrable desire for skills-building, study, or a major in marketing or data analysis 
Is a detail-oriented, self-starter with excellent writing and organizational skills 
Experience with standard office software (Excel and PowerPoint) required 
Comfortable learning internal systems, tools, and processes
Proficiency with Canva or a similar graphic design tool is ideal
Possesses a positive attitude and a desire to learn 
Loves books and wants to help readers discover new titles and authors they'll love 
Flexibility to take on additional tasks related to marketing and metadata as needed
