Title: Marketing Manager, GCP Balance
Description: SUMMARY:

GCP Balance is a practical nonfiction imprint built with the whole person in mind. Our mission is to inspire and empower readers to be their best selves physically and mentally, at home, at their desks, and out in the world. GCP Balance seeks an innovative and experienced Marketing Manager to develop, lead, and oversee all aspects of marketing strategy for approximately 24 practical non-fiction titles per year. Additionally, this individual will create and oversee extensive backlist marketing initiatives; manage annual imprint marketing budget; interface with Hachette sales team on both frontlist and backlist promotions; collaborate with GCP title marketers on imprint social media strategy and marketing promotions; and actively participate in the acquisitions process. This position reports to the VP, Publisher of GCP Balance with a dotted line to the VP, Executive Director of Publicity & Marketing at GCP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and oversee title-by-title marketing campaigns for GCP Balance
In cooperation with GCP’s Advertising Director, develop and execute advertising plans and copy for relevant titles
Formulate and execute best practices for metadata for both front and backlist titles
Develop strategic plan for ongoing marketing of Balance’s backlist
Edit and oversee process for in-house materials and fact sheets / sell sheets for all sales meetings
In cooperation with Publisher, oversee preparation of all presentations to sales department
In cooperation with Publisher and the GCP marketing team, oversee creation and maintenance of branding and marketing materials for the imprint, including newsletters, website, social media, etc.
Review and provide feedback on proposals in acquisitions meetings
Communicate directly with authors and agents to present, refine, and execute marketing plans
Work with authors to maximize campaign effectiveness including increasing social media platforms and working collaboratively to build author brand
Collaborate on GCP division-wide marketing initiatives, including influencer open houses, book club outreach and seasonal programs.
Develop programs for direct-to-consumer outreach in core publishing categories in concert with Hachette Book Group’s central marketing team
Work with special sales to develop organizational sales opportunities
Oversee ONIX feed process and regular metadata updates
Participate in Balance’s and GCP’s presence at trade and regional shows and academic conferences, as appropriate

Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

A minimum of 5 years of product marketing experience
Demonstrated experience in developing successful marketing campaigns for a diverse range of product, particularly within the practical wellness/self-help space, in books, or in media, journalism, or content development and management.
Proven ability to create strong integrated campaigns, including traditional as well as paid social, programmatic and search advertising strategies
Analytical skillsets to optimize campaigns for ROI and develop audience insights and targeting strategies that reach existing fans while always looking to expand the audience
Excellent leadership skills, communication, budget management, organizational, prioritization and presentation skills
Prior experience effectively managing and mentoring individuals or a team is preferred but not necessary
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Excellent written and oral communications skills, high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization
Willingness to experiment and think creatively about book marketing

The compensation range for this position is $63,300 - $70,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
