Title: Sales Associate or Manager
Description: Apollo Publishers is seeking a motivated, tenacious, and enthusiastic sales associate or manager with prior sales experience.

Apollo Publishers is an exciting young publishing house specializing in narrative and illustrated adult trade nonfiction with a timely and topical bend. The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for direct sales, including corporate sales, and will be involved in marketing, and must be self-motivated and able to thrive as a member of a small team.

Job responsibilities will or may include:

- Create lead lists and pitch materials
- Secure orders through direct sales and meet sales goals
- Create compelling communications including email, newsletters, displays, etc.
- Develop new business through proactive outreach
- Attend shows requiring occasional travel
- Provide excellent support and service for existing customers
- Manage author sales including event support
- Support distribution sales with materials, pitches, and outreach as appropriate
- Assist with management of ad budget and creation of marketing materials
- Share in social media posting with the PR and editorial teams
- Use CRM sales tool to manage and grow customer database
- Provide regular progress reports and forecasts

This is commission position with the potential for additional compensation based on results.


Apollo Publishers was conceived of in 2016 by two publishing industry veterans. It published its first title in March 2018 and has regularly published books since then. It will have approximately 70 titles in print by the end of 2023. Its books are carefully chosen and its list well-curated. Distribution into book trade channels nationwide is by Ingram Publisher Services and Two Rivers; ebook editions are created in-house and also distributed through IPS and Two Rivers. Audio and foreign language editions are sold via subrights.

Requirements: Requirements:

- At least 2 years prior sales experience, preferably in publishing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable communicating by email, phone, and in-person
- Detail-oriented and well-organized
- Strong follow-up skills
- A keen interest in adult trade nonfiction
- Regular consumer of news and media
- Positive attitude/team player
- Ability to work full business hours during the week and occasional evening/weekend
- Able to work at least 2-3 days each week in the publisher’s Manhattan office
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Google Drive products, and CRM tools
- Knowledge of Bookscan, Edelweiss, and Canva a plus

The ideal candidate will have:

- Personal relationships with buyers at companies large and small
- Experience selling to corporations
- Ability to represent a broad range of books to a broad range of buyers
- Tenacity and a drive to succeed
