Title: Literary Assistant, Adult
Description: McIntosh & Otis, Inc is seeking a full-time Literary Assistant to join the Adult Literature Department.

Tasks and responsibilities include:
Assist with day-to-day management of front-list clients and literary estates, including some scheduling and various administrative/clerical tasks
Liaise with clients, prospective clients, and publishing/entertainment industry professionals
Review and evaluate client and prospective client manuscripts, providing feedback and preparing reports, editorial letters, rejection letters, pitches, submission lists, etc.
Handle subsidiary rights for adult titles (including, primarily, translation and permissions, providing further assistance with audio rights, film/TV rights, etc.)
Assist with contracts (contributing rights research, reviewing, negotiating, and tracking, with the support of subsidiary rights assistant)
Recruit and mentor department interns
Maintain various databases, lists, and logs
Key qualities in a candidate:
Strong communication and organization skills
Self-starter comfortable with a fast-paced environment
Strong writing and editorial skills
Ability to anticipate needs
Familiarity with contracts/subsidiary rights is a major plus
Aspires to build a career as a literary agent


Requirements: Ideally, the candidate will have at least one year of relevant editorial, agency, or rights experience.
