Reports to: Vice President, Publisher

Cameron + Company seeks a dynamic, ambitious, and motivated individual with superior organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a strong interest in the book industry to join our fun, creative and fast-paced team. This position supports Cameron + Company (a division of ABRAMS) in an administrative capacity and works closely with the Publisher, Cameron Kids Publishing Director, and ABRAMS’ marketing and publicity on a wide variety of tasks, including the execution of publicity and marketing campaigns for both Cameron Kids and Cameron Books (adult).

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the fields of both Marketing and Publicity, learn the strategy behind building an innovative campaign, work with bestselling authors, contribute creatively to promotions, and play an important role managing the essential day-to-day functions of our department.

The Marketing & Publicity Coordinator, Cameron + Co., reports to the Cameron + Company Publisher.


You will be responsible for…

• Working closely with the Cameron Publisher and Cameron Kids Publishing Director, create and manage seasonal planning schedule, from campaign brainstorming through final distribution of plans to authors and agents.
• Coordinate biannual sales conferences, including developing materials, coordinating with other departments.
• Assist with literary festival, Con, and bookseller conference planning, including book shipments, venue booking and author travel, as well as brainstorming and executing creative in-booth and social media promotions.
• Provide assistance on major publicity and marketing campaigns, including author communication, liaising with outside publicists, coordinating travel, media outreach, writing marketing copy and social media promotions.
• Organize various department meetings, including sending out calendar invites and agendas to attendees and taking and distributing notes.
• Build and maintain budget grids, including invoice tracking and payments.
• Manage seasonal sales materials and execute bookseller mailings.
• Create author event confirmations.
• Support ABRAMS’ sales team with seasonal digital catalog.
• Coordinate key aspects of the department’s media outreach including writing press materials, pitching, arranging meetings, and internal reports.
• Manage key departmental tasks, including updating marketing plans and other documents and processing book orders.
• Provide back-up assistance to reception as needed.

What skills & experience you’ll bring to us

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 1-2 years’ experience in the marketing field, preferably within the publishing industry
• Passionate about both adult and children’s books for all ages
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of Social Media platforms, including associated advertising and corresponding analytic tools
• Strong project and time management ability
• Detail oriented with ability to balance multiple projects
• Natural multi-tasker who is comfortable shifting course as needed; proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Open-minded, innovative, proactive self-starter who can work well independently yet flourishes in a collaborative environment
• Easily builds and maintains relationships with different management levels and personalities
• Proficiency in Mac OS and MS Office Suite, with strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint in particular
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, a plus
