Title: Marketing Assistant, Workman Publishing
Description: Workman Publishing (WP) is a leading publisher of award-winning lifestyle and nonfiction books, children’s books, cookbooks, parenting/pregnancy guides, and books on gardening, country living, and humor, as well as gift books, fiction, and the bestselling calendar line in the business. WP includes Workman, Workman Kids, Workman Calendars, Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill, Algonquin Young Readers (AYR), Artisan, Storey Publishing, and Timber Press. WP is part of Hachette Book Group.

WP is searching for a Marketing Assistant to assist and lead on select marketing campaigns for adult, children’s, and calendar titles within the Workman, Workman Kids, and Workman Calendars imprints, and be a key player in supporting Workman social media channels. If you are a highly organized writer with exceptional communication skills, an interest in social media and marketing, and an eye for design, we would like to meet you.

This position reports to the Assistant Director, Marketing & Digital Content and resides within the WP Marketing and Publicity department.

We are looking for the role to have the ability to commute to the NY office with a hybrid office/work-from-home schedule.
Requirements: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Independently own and manage marketing campaigns for select Workman, Workman
Kids, and Workman Calendars titles
● Assist on lead marketing campaigns for select titles across the Workman and
Workman Kids lists
● Request creation of ads and sales materials, working with Creative Services
and Digital Marketing team
● Work with third-party organizations and brands to create cross-promotional
opportunities for books and authors
● Oversee strategy, content creation, and management of Workman TikTok account,
supported by social media team
● Contribute to overall social media strategy, including copywriting and
visual content creation, across Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and
LinkedIn for various WP imprints
● Support day-to-day social media activities including scheduling content,
monitoring comments/messages, and other community management tasks
● Run and present regular analytic reporting for social accounts
● Manage the Workman NetGalley account
● Manage the Workman Pinterest account
● Administrative tasks include: processing weekly invoices and monthly AmEx
statements, maintenance of marketing and publicity budget and department
contacts sheet & addresses, facilitating mailings, note-taking at meetings
● Support the Assistant Director, Marketing & Digital Content as needed on
related projects

Qualifications:
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
● Superb organizational and problem-solving skills
● Excellent time management skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines
● Acute attention to detail
● Strong visual eye with an interest in design
● Experience using online design tools such as Canva and possession of
photography skills is a plus
● Prior marketing, publishing, or social media experience through part-time
work or internships is preferred
● Enthusiasm for and strong understanding of major social media platforms
● Positive attitude, an eagerness to learn, and a willingness to ask questions
● Knowledge of the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is
a plus
● Respect for others and an excitement for participating in and contributing to
a fun, vibrant work environment with a great company culture
