Title: | Publishing Coordinator, Hachette Books |
Description: | The Publishing Coordinator will provide strategic and tactical support for the Senior Director of Marketing and leadership team at Hachette Books, a division of Perseus Books, a part of the Hachette Book Group, Inc., whose objective is to publish meaningful and provocative nonfiction. Hachette Books presents the leading writers in narrative nonfiction, business, science, history, health and wellness, pop culture, sports, and humor under two imprints: Hachette Books and Hachette Go.
In addition to administrative support, the position will provide essential coordination, organization, and assistance across the publishing division, working directly with the Publisher, Associate Publisher, and Creative Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Help organize and communicate with in-house colleagues, members of the sales team, and other stakeholders across HBG about elements of the publishing process, title launches, and other various matters Assist the Publisher and Associate Publisher in scheduling and other general administrative support and special projects Coordinate, create, and traffic materials for weekly and seasonal meetings, cross-imprint initiatives, and seasonal deliverables for the marketing department Help develop and implement best practices and standard operating procedures across the publishing division Maintain master grids for authors, seasonal meetings, yearly marketing budgets, paperback revisions, award nominations, etc. Produce and run various reports using in-house systems, including sales, preorders, and POS reports and analysis; seasonal meeting agendas, seasonal overview grids, materials, and fact sheets; publishing schedules, competitive author competition grids, etc. Develop and build presentations for seasonal launch, planning, and sales conference meetings and other meetings where visual presentations are needed Coordinate galley process with key stake holders Perform administrative duties, including trafficking bills, scheduling meetings, font licensing, trafficking art contracts, directing/responding to phone calls, expense reports and billing, etc. |
Requirements: | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Interest in book publishing is essential Minimum 1-2 years of experience in administrative work and trafficking preferred An ability to attend to details and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Superb verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to write effectively for a variety of mediums targeted to diverse audiences and departments Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, and other databases As a leading book publisher, we believe that including and representing diverse voices in all aspects of our business is fundamental to what we do.
