Title: Editorial Services Manager
Description: Candlewick Press, a leading publisher of books for children located in Somerville, MA, seeks a motivated and experienced project manager for the role of editorial services manager. This position is responsible for scheduling, trafficking, and managing approximately 170 titles/year in our trade publishing environment. The role will supervise a coordinator and assistant manager while collaboratively working with design, editorial, and production.

Responsibilities:
Working with the executive managing editor, the editorial services manager will need to have an overall awareness of the entire Candlewick publishing list. They will be responsible for overseeing titles circulating through all stages before going out to repro and supervise two team members. Working in conjunction with all teams across the Walker/Candlewick Group, they will ensure dates are met, negotiating extensions and making adjustments where necessary and conveying that information to the appropriate people. They will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of all bibliographic and scheduling information through use of the company-wide data management system and trafficking materials through the approval process.

The manager will run biweekly publishing meetings for 4-color Candlewick originated titles and disseminate changes to scheduling and bibliographic information to appropriate departments in a timely fashion through pub meeting minutes, production planning meetings and through individual correspondence.

The manager will also need to have an awareness of the Walker and Walker Books Australia-originated portions of the Candlewick list attend biweekly publishing meetings for the Walker Books US team.

The manager will be responsible for the initiation of workflow for special sales projects in addition to scheduling and specifications tasks managed within Candlewick's schedule and data management system.
Requirements: • A highly motivated individual with a minimum of 7 years of project management experience in a publishing environment.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing personnel
• Candidates should possess a scrupulous attention to detail as well as outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be a self-starter.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills including diplomacy and tact, the ability to maintain grace under pressure, and a cheerful approach.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to work independently and expeditiously
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe applications
• Familiarity with typesetting terminology/copyediting and proofreading marks strongly preferred.

This is full-time position. While we are mainly working remotely due to COVID, this role will eventually be based in our Somerville, MA office.
