| Title: | Publicist or Senior Publicist |
| Description: | Verso Books is looking for a Publicist or Senior Publicist to join the team in Verso’s Brooklyn office. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing interviews, reviews, features, op-eds, events, and online coverage for up to thirty new books a year, working across a wide range of subject areas (including politics and world history, economics and sociology, ecology and climate change, race, gender and feminism, art and culture).
Good relationships with the book reviewers of national media, as well as with cultural and political outlets, will be central to the job. Creative use of social media is important, as well as an interest in online direct marketing and commissioning or writing contributions to Verso's blog. A willingness to try new and innovative approaches to publicity and marketing will be strongly encouraged. You will also need to be able to tailor and present the salient aspects of each new title to journalists and editors, potential authors, and events coordinators, and to efficiently manage publicity campaigns for a number of titles at any one time. At least one year of experience at some kind of media organization is preferred—not necessarily book publishing—as well as a good understanding of and sympathy with our list and publishing project. The salary range is $42k–58k depending on experience. Benefits include fully funded health, vision and dental insurance, a 401k with an employer match, and 25 days of vacation.
