Title: | Graphic Production Assistant |
Description: | Candlewick Press, a leading publisher of books for children located in Somerville MA, seeks a Graphic Production Assistant to join our talented team. The assistant will provide support to the Graphic Production team, covering a wide-array of exciting print and digital projects. Following Candlewick aesthetic styles and standards, the Graphic Production Assistant will assist with; reprints, preparing files for digital conversion (e-book, e-PDF), Preflight and Postflight of final files for print, inputting text changes for US editions of UK originated titles, and Hi-Rez Photoshop projects.
Duties also include: • retrieve and prepare archive assets for various reuse needs • create special effect plates for print (i.e. Spot-Gloss, Emboss, Foil-Stamp, etc.) • generate and update barcodes • fulfill file and PDF requests • assist with creating and updating training and workflow documentation This is not a design position. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for typography and book design, while having a stronger interest in prepress and digital production. |
Requirements: | • Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent experience
• Experience working with Hi-Rez imagery, including; cloning, creating layer masks, alpha channels, retouching, color conversion, adjustment layers, smart filters • Understanding of color separations, 4-color printing process and color theory, along with experience in color-correction • Typesetting experience and understanding of proofreading marks is a plus • Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro • Knowledge of Flightcheck and Pitstop a plus • Candidate must be very detail oriented and work well under pressure • Good communication, time management and organizational skills a must |
