JOB SUMMARY Play a vital role in Macmillan’s Diversity & Inclusion efforts. We are looking for a temporary D&I Associate to assist us in implementing a series of D&I initiatives for approximately 4 months. This role will assist the Diversity & Inclusion Council and its committees in performing a broad range of programmatic and administrative duties that require discretion and judgment, a strong orientation to results and an ability to self-manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities. The job entails a range of tasks, including scheduling meetings, taking minutes, designing and writing engaging reports and messaging, preparing education and training materials and messages, communicating by phone and in person with parties inside and outside the business and spreadsheet creation and data analysis, with attention to detail essential. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide project management for organizational D&I initiatives, including the development of appropriate timelines for key deliverables and follow up with various stakeholders to ensure that all project plans are executed as expected. Serve as a liaison with the function, internal and external stakeholders, including coordination of the Diversity & Inclusion Council meetings and reports from the Council’s committee meetings. Create and maintain an annual events calendar to ensure leadership participation as appropriate. Serve as the primary point of contact with the D&I Council and committees, prepare monthly activity reports and other data as directed; assist with logistics for diversity and inclusion events and programming and develop key metrics (attendance, survey responses, etc.) to assess overall effectiveness. Individual will also engage with recruiters and training and development to prepare materials aimed at advancing workforce and inclusion strategy. Create, collect, maintain and present materials including reports, PowerPoint presentations, and other information for projects, special events and other initiatives; update company Confluence page and other communications-related projects as they emerge. Performs comprehensive event planning and activity coordination. May assist with administrative functions and help coordinate requests and services, such as support for travel planning, public events and speaking engagements by compiling relevant information and contributing content to composition of presentations, speeches or other correspondence. Performs other duties as requested. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge • Excellent writing ability for business communications • Excellent communication skills by phone and in-person • Spreadsheet creation and data analysis, including math skills and attention to detail • MS Office, particular proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint • Ability to work independently, to initiative projects and see them through to conclusion • Proficiency with online commerce and social media • Can-do attitude, with a strong sense of urgency to accomplish goals and objectives. Persistence and follow-through are essential. • Exceptional project management and planning skills; ability to prioritize and organize effectively and manage multiple projects and assignments. • Ability to develop strong working relationships with peers and project members • Ability to research online and think critically • Ability to analyze and interpret data Project management experience required; College-level education in business or public administration, human resources management, organizational behavior or closely related field a plus; previous diversity & inclusion program experience also a plus. |
