Title: Marketing Communications Associate
Description: For 38 years, Cheng & Tsui has been the premier publisher of exemplary Asian language educational resources. We pursue our mission of “Bringing Asia to the World” by publishing a variety of market-leading Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic resources for the K-12 and higher education markets.
Cheng & Tsui is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated Marketing Communications Associate to conceptualize and develop strategically aligned copy for print and digital and content marketing collateral. Candidates must demonstrate versatile copywriting skills in addressing the needs of teachers and school administrators interested in instructing Grades K-12 and higher education students in Asian languages and cultures. Responsibilities include developing multi-channel product promotional materials from conception to completion. Firm deadlines, quick turnaround times, and fluctuating workloads are common for this position requiring time management and organizational skills.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conceptualize and execute promotion campaigns consisting of catalog and targeted direct mail, email blasts, web site e-commerce, listserv announcements, point of sales/conference brochures and flyers, space advertising, and social media on a timely basis to increase sales leads and company’s visibility.
• Conceptualize and write informative and engaging product positioning copy for print and online marketing collateral reflecting key selling points and pedagogical strengths while helping to brand company’s pioneering status in the field.
• Work with internal teams and outside vendors, as necessary, for services such as promotional design needs, mailing lists, manufacturing and mailing services for print collaterals, and email blasts /tracking services.
• Accomplish all campaigns within agreed upon budgets, always seeking competitive bids for outside services.
• Track success of campaigns with metrics which measure costs against sales results or pipeline contribution, related to generation of increased web traffic or hot leads from response cards for sales team, as examples.
• Collaborate closely with the Editorial and Sales departments for product information needs and product benefits that reflect real customer needs in order to write effective marketing copy.
• Develop and maintain special web site features of interest to teachers to drive web traffic for sales leads.
• Develop regular attractive monthly offers to drive web sales and increase sales leads.
• Update and freshen the web site messaging regularly to improve utility and attract revisits.
• Execute comprehensive social media plans including social media outlets and viral campaigns.
• Collaborate with sales team to develop sales tools such as concise product tip sheets for use during sales calls, signage and collateral for conferences and product webinar presentations.
• Research, organize, and manage competitive information & relevant industry information/trends to share with sales and editorial teams.
• Compose and distribute press releases, newsletters, blogs, podcasts related to success stories, new product releases, authors, awards and other newsworthy events.
• Help compose teacher training workshop proposals for conference submissions
• Collaborate on the formulation of annual marketing plan.
Requirements: • Bachelor's degree preferred with 2 or more years of relevant experience
• Proficient use of MS Office Suite products (MS-Word/MS-Excel/MS-PowerPoint/MS-Access)
• Persuasive and collaborative interpersonal skills combined with initiative
• Organized, thorough, detail-oriented, with excellent planning and follow-through skills
• Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications for print and social media
• Direct relevant marketing experience to include project management and creative accountability
• Experience with web content/user interface, Indesign, and related technologies
• Working knowledge of Google Analytics and other web analytics programs a plus
• Strong interest in Asian languages and cultures and the company’s mission important
