Title: | Literary Agent Assistant |
Description: | The Bradford Literary Agency is a boutique literary agency established in 2001 with agents in San Diego, New York and Orange County. Our clients include NYT bestselling authors Megan Hart, Lauren Dane, Tessa Bailey and Katee Robert, RITA award-winning authors Jenn Bennett and Clara Kensie as well as debut authors and illustrators in numerous categories. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as an assistant in our San Diego office, to report to Laura Bradford, the agency founder.
Job Description: - Candidate must possess a strong interest in adult genre fiction and young adult. We are looking for someone who has some knowledge of the current literary marketplace and an interest in learning more. - Candidate will be responsible for administrative tasks such as database entry, filing, website maintenance, accounting/banking, newsletter formatting and shipping. - Submission management including query review. Candidate will be asked to generate reader reports/coverage for requested material. - Client management support including correspondence, development and tracking of manuscripts on submission, scanning and distribution of royalty statements and upkeep of client records. - Pay to start at $15/hour for 10-15 hours a week. Hours must be performed in office M-F between the hours of 9 am & 5 pm though there may be some remote working options offered after training. Position to begin in April. |
Requirements: | The candidate must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, multi-task and handle special projects as they arise. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a necessity, and the candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and extremely well-organized. At least one to two years of prior work experience in an office environment is preferred; experience in the book publishing industry is a plus, but not mandatory. Strong Microsoft Office skills required, particularly with Word and Excel. Bachelor’s degree required. You must live in or near San Diego to be available for in-office work.
