Title: Full Charge Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant
Description: Leading publisher of educational materials in the areas of Asian languages and cultural studies for the K-12 and higher education markets seeks a Full Charge Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant to join its growing team.

Position Summary: The Bookkeeper is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the day-to-day accounting functions, accruals, financial statement preparation, and performing general accounting functions, as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
1. Full cycle Accounts Receivable, including preparation of monthly invoices and maintaining customer and vendor records
2. Accounts Payable including: purchase orders and vendor records maintenance
3. Multiple Bank reconciliations for depository accounts
4. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts; reviewing for input accuracy and prepare monthly reports and journal entries, as needed
5. General ledger maintenance
6. Prepare biweekly payroll timesheets for outside payroll service, 401K enrollment and deposits
7. Administration of various business, sales, and payroll taxes as due
8. Prepare monthly financial statements
9. Maintain required business documents
10. Prepare annual 1099’, author royalties,
11. Assistance with the annual budget and audit process
12. Maintain financial document retention files
13. New vendor setup and maintenance
14. Vendor statement reconciliation and discrepancies
15. Deposit and cash reports
16. Prepare and/or review of all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure
17. Perform accounting requirements for publishing projects
18. Perform other related duties as may be requested by management


Requirements: KEY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
2. Proficient in accounting software (3 years minimum experience)
3. Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
4. 3-5 years Full Charge Bookkeeping experience
5. Full proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
6. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced work environment
7. Highly organized and detail oriented
8. Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
9. Strong verbal and written communication skills
10. Thrives in a collaborative, team player office environment
11. Ability to interface well with staff and external contacts
12. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
13. Strong organizational skills
