| Description: | Skyhorse Publishing, one of the fastest growing independent publishers in America, is seeking an energetic and team-oriented candidate to work in our publicity department in our Brattleboro, Vermont office.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and grow in this industry. We offer competitive compensation and benefits. As an Assistant Publicist, the candidate will conduct book and author publicity tasks for the cooking/lifestyle editorial department, and assist the publicity department and company with other general duties. Responsibilities include: • Formulate and execute publicity plans with support from Publicity Manager • Maintain accurate and complete mailing lists or other media databases • Create press releases, e-blasts, reports, spreadsheets, and other written materials • Craft and pitch appropriate media in all various forms • Liaison with authors and agents with support from senior staff • Assist with mailings, deliveries, events, and support senior staff on key titles as needed • Initiate and nurture professional book media contacts • Be proactive in learning the book publishing business • Begin to discern media opportunity that will result in greater sales |
| Requirements: | • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
• Prior publicity internships/experience in the publishing industry required • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and well organized • Positive attitude/team player • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken • Passion for books and book publishing • Immediate availability preferred |
