Title: | Subsidiary Rights Assistant |
Description: | Apply to work with JABberwocky Literary Agency, and help us conquer the subsidiary rights world! We boast one of the leading client lists in science-fiction/fantasy, a growing list in YA/middle grade fiction, and have a reputation to uphold as one of the most aggressive agencies out there when it comes to the sale of our authors’s foreign and audiobook rights.
We're looking for a Subsidiary Rights Assistant who will work closely with our Subsidiary Rights Director to: Compile and distribute marketing, review, and sales information to our global partners Negotiate foreign & audio rights contracts and track them across all stages of development/publication Mail author copies of licensed editions Process foreign royalty statements and track monies owed for advances and royalties Keep databases updated with the most current information regarding projects and publishing contacts File foreign tax paperwork with the IRS Gather review and other publicity coverage, and prepare marketing mailings Create and edit our annual foreign and rights guide Schedule appointments for the international book fairs or other related meetings Coordinate foreign interviews, giveaways, and travel for our authors Potentially travel to international book fairs to meet with business contacts In addition to these duties, you will have opportunities to assist the Subsidiary Rights Director with her agent-ing duties, which includes reviewing and evaluating queries and manuscripts of existing and prospective clients as well as preparing submissions to editors. Please note: this role is primarily geared towards subsidiary rights responsibilities and opportunities to assist with agent-ing duties will ebb and flow, depending on the foreign rights workload. |
Requirements: | Some publishing experience is helpful, but not strictly necessary.
Skills required: Meticulous attention to detail Highly organized and able to juggle competing tasks and responsibilities, including maintaining organizational systems Excel, Numbers (spreadsheet-ing) experience Familiarity with basic coding principles (such as CSS and HTML) Familiarity with database entry Familiarity with InDesign Familiarity with Macs (particularly Filemaker Pro) a plus Excellent written communication skills Willingness to ask questions and seek feedback routinely |
