Company Name: WORKMAN PUBLISHING
Description: Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill seeks an intern to work virtually—and eventually in person in our Chapel Hill, NC, office—with our dedicated marketing team. In this role you will work closely with the Director of Digital Marketing to assist with a variety of projects. We are looking for an intern who will be able to start as soon as possible and who can commit to 10 hours a week for a minimum of 7 months.
 
Responsibilities:
 
- Coordinating book mailings for accounts and consumers
- Coordinating giveaways for our ARCs and recently published books on Goodreads, LibraryThing, Algonquin Books Blog (using Google Forms), and social media
- Using Hootsuite to create drafts of social media posts about our books for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
- Reading Algonquin and Algonquin Young Readers books, as assigned, to find appropriate quotes or passages to use on social media
- Using Canva to create social media graphic
- Creating set-up shots, photos, and videos for social media use
- Using WordPress to write drafts of Algonquin Books Blog posts
- Researching the appropriate organizations, book groups, and individuals to target for consumer marketing
 
Qualifications:
 
- Ideal candidates should be organized and detail-oriented, with strong writing skills
- Experience with Hootsuite, Canva, Excel, or WordPress a plus
- High school diploma or equivalency required
