Title: Editorial Assistant, Hachette Nashville
Description: The Editorial Assistant is responsible for providing editorial support to the Publisher and Associate Publisher of FaithWords and Worthy Books. FaithWords is a publisher of the world’s foremost pastoral and ministry voices in the Christian market. Worthy Books is an inspirational adult book publisher specializing in the intersection of faith and culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports Publisher and Associate Publisher on new book acquisitions and current book projects.
Attends and participates in editorial and project development meetings, including editorial board, acquisitions, titling and jacketing meetings.
Reads, evaluates, and reports on manuscripts, proposals and other materials submitted for publication through FaithWords and Worthy Books.
Works closely with authors and literary agents throughout the publishing process (manuscript development, payments, sales information, etc.)
Shepherds editorial projects through Production, Managing Editorial, and Marketing, and secure appropriate approvals.
Creates and manages title data throughout the publishing process.
Prepares pre-acquisition materials, including profit-and-loss statements.
Performs administrative duties as needed, including: photocopying, sorting mail, filing, directing/responding to phone calls, etc.
Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Minimum of 1 year of publishing experience preferred (internships ok) or other editorial work experience.
Astute reader and evaluator of potential projects for publication.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with a strong emphasis on detail.
Excellent writing and editorial skills.
Interest in religious and inspirational publishing.
Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and databases.
Polished communication skills (verbal & written) & interpersonal skills
Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.
