Requirements: Position Description:

Macmillan Children's Publishing Group (MCPG) is seeking a production director to oversee a team of nine who support our Children's imprints: Feiwel & Friends, FSG-BYR, Henry Holt BYR, Imprint, First Second, Odd Dot, Roaring Brook Press and Swoon Reads. MCPG publishes about 350 new titles a year, of which roughly 160 are 4/c picture books and novelty books. In addition, the group publishes roughly 100 new paperback conversions a year. The team also supports Macmillan's Special Sales group in producing custom product.

Candidate should have excellent people skills, management experience, excel in all facets of print production and manufacturing and have experience with safety and licensor compliance and fiber basket testing.

The position requires a person with analytical skills and with a penchant for continuous improvement.

We are looking for a positive professional to support and collaborate with a vibrant and growing division at Macmillan.


Major Responsibilities:

• Produce quality books on time and within budget
• Support MCPG Publishers
• Guide staff of nine
• Maintain vendor relationships and keep abreast of industry trends.
• Work closely with VP of Trade Production to develop process improvements and address concerns.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Prepress, sheetfed and offset print production.

Experience Needed:

• 10+ years of 1/c and 4/c Children’s and YA book production
• 5+ years of team management
