Title: Sales and Marketing Coordinator
Description: The Experiment, a dynamic, +10-year-old independent nonfiction publisher based in New York, seeks a full-time Sales and Marketing Assistant, reporting to our executive director of marketing, publicity, and sales. Responsibilities include:

• Monitor sales and inventory of our +220 title list (with an additional 40-50 new titles published each year)
• Help prepare materials for our twice-annual series of sales meetings
• Analyze order and sales data and, working with the publisher, prepare P&Ls to inform print and reprint quantities
• Work with key international distribution partners to ensure appropriate inventory levels of all titles sold in distributed markets, and provide distributors with product selling information on new titles
• Work closely with managing editorial, production, marketing, and finance colleagues, as required, as well as our distributor Workman Publishing’s Customer Service and Sales departments
• Take and process orders from authors and individuals
• Monitor and order office supplies and help maintain an orderly office.

Please note that this position will not be handling actual sales calls or accounts, but rather coordinating with our sales reps.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with a publisher, retailer, or wholesaler, inventory, and/or sales. We look for candidates who are extremely curious and alert to current publishing-industry trends, who think creatively, are unceasing initiative-takers, happy to work both independently and collaboratively, and who have superlative communication skills. Additionally, we seek a candidate who has:

• A Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent time-management skills and the ability to multi-task
• An aptitude and interest in learning (and mastering) a variety of software programs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
