Title: Sales and Marketing Manager
Description: Cheng & Tsui, the leading publisher of Asian language textbooks and digital products, is seeking an energetic and results-driven Sales & Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate has a background in educational publishing and will drive growth by effectively managing and training young teams in both Sales and Marketing.

This position oversees both Sales and Marketing functions and coordinates their collaboration. In our niche market, the Manager will drive strategic marketing activities focused on generating visibility for the company and leads for the Sales team. S/he will also provide strategic sales activities for the Sales Account Representatives, operating primarily as product experts, with training and systems for managing a territory through effective use of CRM tools, following up leads, providing support to customers making product decisions, and closing business. The Sales & Marketing Manager will be responsible for establishing a collaborative sales culture within the team and cultivating the Representatives as both product experts and successful consultative salespeople while training and developing protocols for best practices. This is a “hands-on” role and the ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment is a must. This is also ideal for an enthusiastic “rising star” to step up to a leadership role with exceptional future opportunity. Keen interest in Asian languages and culture and/or bilingual ability in Chinese are very much a plus.

• Provide overall direction and planning for national and international sales and marketing operations.
• Articulate and implement marketing plans and strategies to attain annual and long-term company revenue goals supported by the presentation of annual sales forecasts and cost-effective budgets.
• Develop, direct, train, and maintain a highly effective inside sales team supported by solid sales and product training, analysis of monthly results, responsive marketing services, and a fair and attractive incentive plan.
• Help, guide, and thoroughly execute school materials adoptions bids.
• Develop, direct and maintain a marketing team that effectively addresses customer needs in establishing company branding and product awareness through a variety of print and digital marketing media with the goal of stimulating revenue growth.
• Conceptualize, review, and approve sales and marketing copy, messaging and design of print and digital media, including company website.
• Prioritize and allocate resources to attain an optimal mix of direct selling and marketing activities.
• Oversee the planning and scheduling of national exhibits and trade shows.
• Provide qualitative and quantitative marketing input into the product development process to help identify new product opportunities, evaluate product proposals, and communicate user feedback on existing products relevant to future revisions.
• Develop competitive pricing strategies while maintaining reasonable margins.
• Oversee the effective use of the CRM system (Salesforce), ensuring that it is populated with all relevant data from active sales efforts for effective outreach and report generation regarding, but not limited to, K-12 and Higher Ed customers and prospects with Asian language programs.
• Oversee the development and dissemination of a digital curated library as a mechanism for company and product branding and growing the customer/prospect email list as a valuable company asset.
• Evaluate and report monthly on the results of all sales and marketing activities to the President and CEO together with recommendations for action.
Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree required
• Hands-on experience in Sales and Marketing, preferably in K-12 and Higher Ed educational publishing with knowledge of schools adoptions process
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a Sales and Marketing department
• Strong consultative sales and marketing background and ability to train and develop new or junior staff
• Experience in branding, effective marketing copy writing, marketing planning and execution through print and digital outlets
• Experience in using CRM, preferably Salesforce, and strong analytical ability to use data to drive creative and effective sales and marketing campaigns
• Excellent planning and organizational skills and a strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality, that lead to timely and responsive follow-through
• Effective managerial and leadership skills that are compatible with a collaborative work culture
• Love for education, pedagogy, and Asian languages and cultures
