Reader’s Digest Association (RDA) is committed to building the next generation of talent, and key to our strategy is our internship program. As a worldwide leader in multi-platform media and direct-to-consumer marketing, we have 200+ professionals in our Milwaukee office that can offer robust and engaging learning opportunities to top students in the Midwest.

We are seeking high-potential students interested in career-building opportunities in a fast paced and competitive environment. In turn, we provide interns relevant real-life business experience through short-term projects that support key business initiatives and contribute to our products. You will also gain exposure to RDA's global organization through meetings where you will interact with business professionals, internal industry experts and senior executives throughout the summer.

The RDA summer internship program is open to undergraduate students entering their junior or senior year. All internships are credit-based (unpaid). To be considered for this program, students will be asked to provide proper documentation from their school program.

Position Description

Craft Intern - The craft intern will report to the Craft Editor, and assist with craft and home decor projects for nationally distributed magazines and books including Taste of Home and Country Woman. Other projects will include researching design trends to concept new projects for future publications, help oversee studio photo shoots and assist in tutorial photos, write/edit craft instructions, create patterns, diagrams and charts. You will leave with hands-on experience designing craft and home decor for a targeted audience, experience in-depth instructional writing and editing, and gain an understanding of the inner workings of publishing.

Length of Internship: Summer 2012 Term
Requirements: •Currently enrolled in fine art, interior design, fashion design, art education or graphic design program entering junior or senior year
•Exemplary fine art and design skills, including an understanding of color theory and the ability to create for a targeted audience across a variety of media
•Solid online research skills, and familiarity with social media, especially Facebook and Pinterest
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
•Solid organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines
•Experience with photography and/or blogging is a plus
•Basic experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop a plus
•You must submit 3 samples of design work in the primary medium of major along with resume for consideration; samples can be attachments or a link to an online portfolio
