Description: We are seeking an assistant in our editorial department to provide administrative support and perform library and bookstore research as needed. The assistant may also be involved in light author/agent correspondence. Duties would include clerical tasks such as photocopying, filing, handling mailings, preparing books for production, and data entry, as well as keeping track of deadlines and reading and evaluating submissions. Candidates should be familiar with genre literature of all kinds. She or he should also be highly organized, detail-oriented, deadline-sensitive, and able to multi-task. Good computer skills, especially knowledge of Word and Excel, a must. The assistant may also be allowed to work from home.
Length of Internship: Internships for this department usually last for 3 months, but is flexible.
Requirements: *Familiarity with a wide variety of genres, including women's fiction, African-American fiction, urban/street lit fiction, and erotica
*Excellent writing skills is a must; good sense of grammar and punctuation are essential
*Candidate must be a self-starter and have good follow-through
*Ability to organize and keep track of details are vital
*Familiarity with Word and Excel
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Payment: This is a nonpaid intern.
