Description: Newmarket Press, an independent publishing house in New York City, specializing in film, health, parenting, business, and biography, seeks an intern to work part-time (15 hours a week or more if your program allows) throughout the Fall 2010 semester. In this internship, you will assist the President of the company and editorial, business, production, marketing, and sales colleagues in all aspects of the publishing process.

Duties include: heavy phone handling; scheduling meetings; generating correspondence; setting up appointments; making travel arrangements; maintaining files; logging editorial submissions; handling special projects.

Length of Internship: Fall 2010 Semester
Requirements: Interest in publishing, film, media, marketing, and PR ? prior experience in any of those fields a plus.
Must be: highly organized and detail oriented with strong communications skills and very strong office and computer skills, and able to help with publisher's workflow.
Must be flexible and work well under pressure, be able to respect deadlines, and be good at follow-up. Preference will be given to those who have had some prior office experience, & those with a publishing, journalism or writing major. Great opportunity for learning.

Our list is diverse, mainly non-fiction trade and illustrated books on film, entertainment, media, self-help, parenting, health and business, and books are often on a fast-track publishing schedule.
