Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W.W. Norton & Company is seeking an intern from January to April 2020 to assist with editorial tasks for the psychology list. W.W. Norton’s College Psychology team is committed to developing high-quality and innovative books for college psychology classrooms across the country and abroad. Interns play an active, hands-on role in various aspects of the editorial process for textbook publishing, in addition to gaining exposure to marketing, sales, design, and other integral components of academic book development.  

Tasks may include: 
• researching psychology experts and compiling a database of prospective editorial reviewers   
• critiquing written textbook material to help editors and authors improve the quality of content
• preparing manuscripts for eventual production  
• formatting documents, such as editorial reviews, to ensure that they are ready to send to editors and authors  
• completing administrative and organizational duties, such as assisting with check processing and archiving documents
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Candidates must be organized, hardworking, able to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced office environment, and enthusiastic about learning the ins and outs of college textbook publishing. Those who demonstrate interest in education, psychology, digital learning, or college curriculum development will receive special attention. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.

Payment: $15/hour
