Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W. W. Norton is seeking an intern from September to December 2019 to support the Norton Critical Editions editorial department. The internship will provide opportunities to experience the editorial, marketing, and sales aspects of textbook publishing. Tasks will vary, but will or may include:
• assisting with manuscript preparation
• reviewing and correcting proof passes
• updating contact lists of authors and adopters
• conducting audits of web ads and ebook listings
• undertaking market research for considered titles
• conducting photo research
• mailing books to contributors and scholarly journals
• helping with administrative tasks (e.g., filing, scanning, photocopying, writing address labels, organizing bookshelves, sourcing press clippings)
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and organized, able to work independently and efficiently in an office environment, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and show an interest in learning about college textbook publishing. Those with an interest in Print Editorial are especially encouraged to apply. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is highly preferred. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.

Payment: $15/hour
