Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W. W. Norton & Company is seeking an intern from January to April 2019 to assist with print and digital editorial projects in the Music department. The internship will offer insight into the editorial, marketing, and sales aspects of textbook publishing. Tasks will vary, but will include:
• assisting with preparation of manuscripts and electronic ancillary materials
• market research
• assist in creating digital assets such as asset maps for eBooks, checking fidelity of playlists, and assisting in verifying audio links are working
• cataloging and organizing digital assets
• log recordings and prepare materials for recording session
• and other day-to-day office duties such as copying edited manuscripts, combining PDF scans into one document, etc.
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and organized, able to work independently in an office environment, and interested in learning about college textbook publishing. An ability to read music notation is required and an interest in publishing is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period in the New York office. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.
