Sparkhouse Congregational is an ecumenical division of 1517 Media. Our mission: to spark new life in Christian communities. We develop innovative faith formation resources for kids, youth, and adults through design thinking, innovation, collaboration, and creativity. Our team is small, nimble, and tuned into the changes and opportunities in the 21st Century religious landscape. We are passionate about creating faith formation resources that make a difference.

The Sparkhouse Congregational team at 1517 Media is seeking a marketing intern who is interested in acquiring valuable skills in marketing, product development, and project management. The intern will work with the Sparkhouse Congregational team for 12 action-packed weeks of promoting stellar print and online resources for congregations across the U.S.

This paid internship will offer unique exposure to Sparkhouse Congregational and will also include hands-on learning opportunities in many different areas of the marketing field, including assisting with traditional marketing, product marketing, content development, and digital and social media.

As a Sparkhouse Congregational marketing intern, you may find yourself working on any of the following tasks:
• Serving as an integral member of the marketing team in executing tactics to drive brand awareness and sales tactics
• Assisting with key product marketing tactics, including product launches, competitive analyses and messaging/positioning development
• Providing support to digital and social media activities, including the development of content, scheduling across social media channels and reporting
• Contributing to the execution of the content marketing strategy, including content development and maintaining key editorial calendars
• Assisting with key retention and acquisition marketing activities, including researching new markets, helping develop content and providing support to key campaigns
• Supporting event planning and execution as needed
• Researching industry trends and providing key insights to team to drive overall marketing strategy
• Participating and contributing to marketing and strategy meetings
• Assisting with marketing project management
• Assisting in other duties as assigned

The marketing intern will work closely with all members of the marketing teams on operational projects as needed, and can expect to gain experience across marketing strategy and tactics, from launching new products to helping plan events to developing content. While the internship involves no editorial work, you will observe the entire publishing process up close and offers excellent industry experience.


Seeking Learners With:
• College experience, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communication, Advertising, Religious Studies, Public Relations, English, or a related field
• Proven excellence in writing and oral communication
• Strong attention to detail
• Demonstrable proofreading skills for content and grammar
• Ability to take direction and work independently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

The 1517 Media paid internship program is robust, and includes an exciting and fun company culture, paid time off, and no-cost gym access in the 510 Marquette fitness center! The beautiful, newly re-designed corporate headquarters hosts 100 employees and is located in downtown Minneapolis with adjacent access to light rail and MetroTransit bus lines, as well as skyway access to restaurants, banks, and shopping centers.

Length of Internship: End of May-End of August
Location: Minneapolis, MN
