Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: W. W. Norton, the largest and oldest publishing house owned wholly by its employees, is seeking an intern in its College Digital Media group to assist the music team from May to August 2017. This internship will give you the opportunity to work on digital and ancillary resources that complement the college music textbooks, such as the student websites, eBooks, online playlists, and InQuizitive (our adaptive quizzing tool), while exploring the various stages of the digital media publishing process. You will gain experience in a number of editorial projects including, but not limited to, preparing manuscripts for copyediting and production, cataloging and organizing digital assets, testing digital content and functionality, and assisting with reviews of content.
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Ideal candidates will be interested in learning more about college textbook and digital media publishing. A background in and passion for music, with the ability to read music, are required. The ability to utilize music notation software, and understand basic music theory is strongly preferred. Applicants should possess strong communication skills and be organized, detail-oriented, self-starting, willing to learn new programs, and able to multitask and work independently in an office environment. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period.

Payment: $11/hour
